This ring was made by hand, by one of our in house goldsmiths using traditional techniques.
For this piece the goldsmith used old metal from a older piece of jewellery provided by the client. This can be a brilliant way to reuse old items of jewellery, keeping a family legacy going by reforming it into something new but with the sentiment of knowing it is the same metal.
You can see in the clip the old metal being melted down to be poured into the cast to form the ring. This is a time old technique, we find the traditional technique we use allow us to give a unique service to our client when making our handmade jewellery. Each item produced is individual and uniquely special.
Once the top half was constructed the goldsmith shaped by hand the bottom half of the ring, soldering both parts together.
The goldsmith then filed and polished the ring by hand to the correct shape and finish. The piece was finished by the goldsmith mounting a diamond onto the head of the ring along with an engraving of initials.
